A Work on a Wheel: Music and Fine Arts Camp 2017 provides a holistic collaborative, and educational experience that connects increased knowledge to passion across the fields of music, production, and the arts.  Participants must be entering the 7th grade or older. See details below.   ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE FREE! You may also register by phone at 1-402-457-5231 or in person at Salem Baptist Church. Pick two modules for the week.  Participants may not attend more than two modules per night, and must attend the modules for which they registered. New Independent Artist  The New Independent Artist (NIA).  MCC Fort Omaha Campus Building 21 NIA gives participants an overview of developing and executing business plans that may include establishing small firms (i.e., record companies and start-ups). This discussion will include an overview of the music industry, including the music industry, career paths in areas such as arts management, music products and diversity of merchandizing, public relations, music production and recording, publishing, and online music distribution. The course also includes valuable information regarding strategic positioning and competitor analysis, as well as marketing, teaming, and project and operations management. This course will explore marketing strategies that involve creating a differentiated name and image — often using a logo and/or tag line — in order to establish a presence in the target consumer's mind and attract and keep fans, consumers and followers.  Music Industry Songwriting. MCC Fort Omaha Campus Building 21 This interactive course explores the craft of songwriting in various styles; as well as channeling, inspiration, creativity, discipline and techniques in songwriting. Marketing and Branding. MCC Fort Omaha Campus Building 21 This class will explore marketing strategy that involves creating a differentiated name and image — often using a logo and/or tag line — in order to establish a presence in the target consumer's mind and attract and keep fans, consumers and followers. Instrumental Classes Guitar.  Salem Baptist Church Classroom #3  Instruction in the basic and advanced developmental techniques in solo and ensemble performances, stage etiquette, interpretation, improvisation and accompaniment are included in this course. This course also enforces proper tuning, instrument mastery, and correct posture and hand position.  Bass.  Creighton University Lied Center  Instruction in the basic and advanced developmental performance techniques. Enhancement of tone, sound quality and style development are demonstrated.  Drums and Percussions.  MCC Fort Omaha Campus Building 22  Instruction in the basic and advanced developmental performance techniques. This includes drum language, exercising proper drumming speed and comfort, proper holding and striking the drum, coordination drills and rhythms and instruction when playing with a group or as an accompaniment. Keyboard Competency.  Creighton University Lied Center  Instruction in the basic and advanced development of functional keyboard skills including scales, arpeggios, improvisation, harmonization, and accompaniment. Theory of Music.  Creighton University Lied Center  This course includes basic vocabulary and grammar of music: fundamentals (intervals, scales, modes, keys, triads), and counterpoint studies. Music theory studies, appropriate for beginners and advanced. Fundamentals of music and diatonic vocabulary.  Aural skills incorporated into the course curriculum. Audio Classes  Sound Engineering.  Salem Baptist Church Sanctuary  This course instructs participants in the basics of effectively reinforcing live sound. Music Production.  Salem Baptist Church Classroom #9  An overview of computers and music focusing on broad themes of people, procedures, data structures, software, hardware, and computer music environments. Studio Engineering.  Salem Baptist Church Maurice Watson Conference Rm  This course instructs participants in learning the basic concepts of acoustics and electronics and how they can be applied to understand musical sound and make music with electronic instruments. Topics will include: sound waves, musical sound, basic electronics, and applications of these basic principles in amplifiers and speaker design. Technology Visual Arts.  MCC Fort Omaha Campus Building 22  This course introduces participants to the languages, concepts, and practices of at through visual and art historical perspectives. Participants are also introduced to all of the visual art practices, including drawing and painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, conceptual and installation art, video art, earthworks, and performance art, as well as craft and graphic design.  Photography.  MCC Fort Omaha Campus Building 21  Participants learn basic camera techniques and how to process their images in digital format. This course provides the student with basic aesthetic principles as well as an extensive range of practical photographic techniques needed for entry into the photographic workplace and/or for artistic expression.  Fine Arts  Drama.  Creighton University Lied Center  This class builds and expands vocal, acting and movements skills. The course is designed to increase student's understanding of theatre as an art form and cultural influence. Dance.  Creighton University Lied Center  This class allows participants to become acquainted with basic techniques of dance and movement. The class provides vast gains in movement skills and finding confidence and enjoyment through dance. Art. Creighton University Lied Center  An introduction to the technical and conceptual aspects of two and three-dimensional design, focusing on drawing and sculpture. Participants develop an understanding of 2 and 3-D designs learn handmade and shop oriented technologies, and explore analytical and conceptual drawing.  Choral.  Creighton University Lied Center  This class emphasizes the basics of vocal technique and history. Participants will learn to better identify their voice part and its relevance within an ensemble. Music will be explored through various genres, cultures and periods.   The course will also introduce the performance and pedagogical techniques for voice.
