Embracing Age as a Superpower – a weekly series for Wise Women
Event on 2017-09-06 08:30:00
This is an 8-week group for women of the decades who are seeking purpose, passion, connection, and community and for women interested in exploring age as a superpower for a meaningful, fulfilling life. Perhaps you have raised a family, retired from a career, relocated to a new community or experienced loss or change in relationship…and now you're wondering 'what's next?’ Perhaps you have awareness of the importance of physical health and a network of support as you progress in years and experience health and life changes. Perhaps you feel a desire for living, meaning and purpose and are seeking others who share this yearning. I am a mother of two adult children and have been navigating a significant career change and relocation during the last 5-7 years. Some days it feels like my life is a snow globe that has been shaken vigorously and is now settling as I find a new way in life. Join me on a journey of self-discovery as we explore life’s shifting terrain by way of Movement, Mindfulness, and Community support.   ~Yvette  Our group will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 8:30am – 10:30am – plus a silent Saturday about halfway through the program (September 30). These events will include movement, meditation, journaling, and sharing within the group. There will also be home activities offered to help enrich your experience. Additionally, (4) free yoga classes at Wellness Pursuits are included with your purchase! Join us and experience a renewed zest for living! A few testimonials from our 2016 attendees: This was the best thing I did for myself last year! – CM, Galax I am amazed to have grown in such an astonishing and wonderful manner in 8 short weeks. I would not have thought it possible. This is my happy experience, and a path to discern truth and my place in the world. The power of connectedness! We women bonded in a way I think none of us thought would be possible. And we want to keep these connections, love and support that we have for each other moving into our futures. We are women who may not have chosen each other as sisters – with our shared experience we see our sisterhood and connectedness. How wonderful is that?! Namaste  I realized that I have more to offer to the world than I thought. I have decided to offer my services as a volunteer in areas where I will work with people. I want to help other people feel special and loved. I am already looking into several agencies like hospice & assisted living facilities. JL – Boones Mill, VA Making time to discover myself and I don't want to hide myself and conform to what others want anymore.   FAQs Are there an age limit to join the series? No. If you are a woman who identifies with the description of this series, you are welcomed to join us. I am 49 years old. I have adult children and have spent the last 5-7 years navigating a career change, a relocation (new community) and a new relationship. Whatever it is that calls you here is relevant! What format will the program take? We'll meet on Wednesday mornings from 8:30am – 10:30am beginning September 6, 2016 until October 25, 2016.  On Saturday, September 30, we will meet from 8:30am to 3:00pm for a silent day retreat. Reserve Wednesday, November 1 as a make-up date if our weekly meetings get disrupted for some reason. I would also love to allow space during our last meeting to share a potluck brunch if attendees are interested.   Please mark these dates on your calendar now and navigate any conflicting appointments. Our sessions will include some movement – maybe even outdoors if weather allows. We will also be sitting, journaling , and sharing within our sacred circle of attendees. I have challenged knees, hips, shoulders and the list goes on …. does this preclude me from participating? No. Movements will be taylored to the capabilities of the group and modifications will be offered if needed. Be sure to include any physical limitations on your intake form. What do I wear? Comfortable, seasonal clothing, that is easy to move in. I do not suggest clothes that bind, pinch or create discomfort when sitting. Layers are a good idea. What can/can't I bring to the event? Please bring a yoga mat and floor chair if you have one. Be sure you always bring your journal and a writing instrument. Water, snacks and other comfort items are welcomed too. Cell phones should be turned to silent or left in your vehicle. What does this event cost? That depends on when you register.  If you register by July 24, you will reap the early-bird discount and your cost will be 5. Between July 25 & August 22, 5. If you register after August 23, the cost is 0.   Either way, your purchase also includes a 4-class pass to be used at Wellness Pursuits within our regular schedule of classes. * Please note, when registering you have the option to 'pay by check' and mailing instructions will be provided for you. Your spot is only guaranteed if payment has been received. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
